Author Guidelines

The Journal of International Commercial Law and Technology (JICLT) welcomes original, high-quality research articles, reviews, case studies, and policy papers addressing the intersection of international commercial law and technology. Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth review and publication process.

1. Scope of Submissions

JICLT invites contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • International commercial and trade law

  • E-commerce and digital trade regulation

  • Cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy laws

  • Intellectual property and technology transfer

  • Blockchain, AI, and emerging technology law

  • Cross-border dispute resolution and arbitration

  • Comparative legal studies in commerce and technology

2. Submission Process

  • All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the Online Submission System on our website.

  • Submissions must include:

    • The manuscript (main document)

    • A cover letter stating the originality of the work

    • Author details (names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, email addresses) in a separate file

    • Any supplementary materials (figures, datasets, appendices)

  • Authors must ensure the work has not been published or is not under review elsewhere.

4. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should follow this structure:

 

Title Page

(separate file)

  • Title of the article (concise, descriptive, max 15 words)

  • Full author names, affiliations, and email addresses

  • Corresponding author details

  • ORCID ID (if available)

 

Main Document

(anonymous for review)

  • Title (without author names)

  • Abstract (200–250 words) summarizing objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions

  • Keywords (4–6 words/phrases)

  • Introduction – context, purpose, significance

  • Literature Review (if applicable)

  • Methodology – research design, data sources, analysis methods

  • Results / Findings – clear presentation of outcomes with tables/figures as needed

  • Discussion – interpretation of findings in the context of existing literature

  • Conclusion and Recommendations

  • References – formatted as per style guide

5. Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides

  • Headings: Use APA style heading levels

  • Tables/Figures: Number consecutively, include titles and captions, place within the text near first mention

  • Language: English (UK or US, but consistent)

6. Referencing Style

JICLT follows the APA 7th Edition referencing format.

Example – Journal Article:

Smith, J. (2023). Digital trade regulations in the Asia-Pacific region. Journal of International Commercial Law and Technology, 18(2), 45–60. https://doi.org/xxxx

Example – Book:

Brown, P. (2022). International commercial law in the digital age. Oxford University Press.

7. Ethical Standards

  • Plagiarism: All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software. Maximum acceptable similarity index: <15% (excluding references).

  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any conflicts in the cover letter.

  • Human/Animal Research: Studies involving human participants or animals must include evidence of ethical approval.

8. Figures and Tables

  • Submit figures as high-resolution (300 dpi) JPEG or PNG files.

  • Ensure all images are copyright-free or have permission for reproduction.

  • Tables should be editable text, not images.

9. Supplementary Material

Authors may submit datasets, appendices, or multimedia as supplementary files. These will be published online alongside the article.

10. Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.

  • Average review period: 6–8 weeks.

  • Final acceptance is based on reviewer feedback and editorial discretion.

11. Post-Acceptance

  • Authors will receive proofs for review before publication.

  • Only minor changes (e.g., typographical corrections) will be allowed at proof stage.

  • The final version will be published online with a DOI.

12. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Currently, no APCs are charged. If introduced in the future, authors will be notified before submission.
